Ababeel Force
The basic purpose of the formation of the Ababeel Squad in Lahore is to improve the law and order situation and bring down the crime rate in the city. The Ababeel Squad has been formed by CCPO Lahore to aid the local police in fighting crime. The fleet of this police wing is based on 40 personnel and 20 motorcycles along with all facilities i.e. latest weaponry, wireless handsets, hand cuffs, bullet proof jackets.
Ababeel Squad will primarily focus on patrolling the crime hotspot areas of the city and will act as a rapid response unit in terms of cordoning off and snap checking in such localities. It will work side by side with the other two important police force wings in Lahore including Dolphin Force and Anti-Riot Force.
Police Response Unit (PRU)
Police Response Unit (PRU) are the first responders and exemplary crime fighting forces controlling street crime with their modern professional skills and rendering the best possible service through community policing. The street crimes in the metropolis have decreased a great extent due to the excellent performance of PRU. They have adopted polite behavior and positive attitude towards people along with utilizing best possible capabilities to make Lahore the safest Mega City of the region. PRU units have created a positive image of Police in the eyes of citizens through their street crime controlling efficiency and timely help of people on roads through community policing.
Dolphin Force
This unit of Lahore police is also known as the elite security unit. Dolphin Force was launched by the Chief Minister of Punjab in 2016. After the successful launch in Lahore, the operations of the Dolphin Force were further expanded to the twin cities. Dolphin Force in Lahore has hundreds of personnel and motorcycles in its fleet. It is probably the very first police force in the entire country to be equipped with 500cc Honda sports bikes. It has been inspired by the Dolphin Force of Istanbul Police. Dolphin Force are the first responders and exemplary crime fighting forces controlling street crime with their modern professional skills and best service through community policing. Anti-Riot Force
Anti-Riot police is a special type of police force formed, trained, and equipped to confront the protesting crowds, which is important to control violence and riots. Trained in Istanbul by the Turkish police, Anti-Riot Force in Lahore acts as the first line of defense for the law enforcement authorities in curbing violent protests.
The anti-riot unit has been divided into multiple groups, which have special vehicles for patrolling and surveillance. Moreover, Anti-Riot Force is also tasked with closely monitoring the crowd of the Pakistan Super League every year to avoid any unforeseen incident.
